05 March 2026
Last week, we were proud to host the Intercollegiate WorldSkills Computing Competition at the Stoke-on-Trent & Staffordshire Institute of Technology.Â
The event brought together talented students from Stafford College, Newcastle College and Stoke-on-Trent College, who went head-to-head in two challenging computer-based competitions designed to test their technical expertise, creativity and problem-solving skills.
Learners competed in Cyber Security and Web Development, showcasing an impressive standard of knowledge and professionalism throughout the day. Working under pressure and against the clock, students demonstrated the high level of skill being developed across our computing programmes.
Stafford College learner Kaedian Hemmings, who studies T Level Digital Production, Design and Development was awarded first place in the Cyber Security challenge, while Joshua Norton who studies T Level Digital Production, Design and Development at Newcastle College achieved first place in the Web Development task.
Staff and students were also joined by local employers Mark Berrisford of SYTECH – Systems Technology Consultants Ltd and Chris Daniels of CyberKiln, who served as expert judges. They offered professional insight, ensuring a rigorous judging process while providing valuable real-world context for the learners.
