Entry Level 3 Students from Ukraine, Poland, Bulgaria, Brazil, Russia and Pakistan engaged in an informal Q&A, with Adam gaining insight into their experiences of moving to the UK, and learners finding out more about his job.

Adam Jogee MP, Member of Parliament for Newcastle-under-Lyme said: “It is always a pleasure to support the work of our wonderful local College.

“The work that Newcastle College does to provide opportunities across our community is immense, and being at the Guildhall today gave me the chance to see first-hand, once again, how they are helping learners build confidence, develop new skills and become active members of our local community here in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

“It was an absolute delight to meet with such an engaged group and to answer their thoughtful questions about my role as our MP, the quirks of our democratic system, and much more besides. Although I was told that I looked about 40... I didn't enjoy that…”

Throughout the session Adam and NSCG learners touched on important political and local issues, speaking candidly on a range of topics from their familial histories and hobbies to general town improvements and public safety. Always interested in helping others, Adam used every opportunity to provide contact points and advice as individuals asked questions.

Having achieved their Entry Level 2 qualifications last year, the group were pleased to put their conversational skills to good use. Adam even invited learners to visit him at parliament, already showing the opportunities community engagement like this can provide.
