NSCG launches Free Higher Technical Engineering courses

Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) have added a number of free Level 4 Higher Technical engineering courses to it's existing programme of short courses funded by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

The 10-week vocational courses are aimed at adult learners aged 19+ who are already working in the engineering sector who wish to gain specialist knowledge within the industry for career progression and personal growth. Courses on offer include; Introduction to Inventor (HTQ), Intermediate Inventor (HTQ) and Lean Manufacturing (HTQ).

Available to study at Stafford College, these courses on have been thoughtfully developed, taking into consideration the key priorities identified through analysis of the local labour market, skills gaps and sector-based trends. 

News of these courses come as a welcome addition to the current Level 4 HTQ's on offer at NSCG such as; Cyber Security in Business, Design and Branding, Digital Motion and Manipulation, Digital Cameras and Communication, Marketing Processes and Planning.

Georgina Barnard, Director of Projects for the Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Institute of Technology (SoTSIoT), said: “Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) is committed to the development of local residents and thereby the economy of the region. These fully funded technical upskilling courses are our latest offer to provide individuals and local businesses with the opportunity to develop the skills needed for their future or to try something new in the world of engineering.

Being able to fit these courses in and around other commitments means that adult learners can study in a way that best suits them, helping them to boost their employability and develop knowledge, skills and competence in a wide range of areas, which are bound to meet local skills needs.”

NSCG has recently secured more than £150,000 of funding from the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF) as part of the government’s Levelling Up agenda to offer a number of free Level 4 Higher Technical courses over a 2-year period. The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda which will provide £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025, aiming to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills.
