Q&A with William Griffiths

07 October 2026

WILLIAM GRIFFITHS

William Griffiths studied A Levels in Law, Business and Environmental Science, achieving grades of A*AA and earning himself a spot at the University of Warwick's prestigious Warwick Business School. Now, in his final year, he's looking forward to starting his new role in Merger and Acquisitions with Strategy&, and looking back fondly over his time with NSCG.

My biggest piece of advice would be not to limit yourself. Take every opportunity you can, even if it is something you are unsure about or do not think you are good enough for. You never know where one opportunity might lead, and sometimes it only takes one opportunity to completely change the direction of your life.

William Griffiths, NSCG Alumni & Student at Warwick Business School

What did you do after NSCG?

Warwick Business School, University of Warwick to study Management.

What are you doing now?

Final Year of study with a job lined up as an associate in Merger and Acquisitions Advisory at Strategy&.

What was the best thing about your time at NSCG? How did your time with us help you prepare for your next steps?

The best thing about my time at NSCG was definitely the people. I made some really good friends there who I am still close with today, but it was also the relationships I built with the lecturers that made my time there so memorable. What has stood out to me most is that those relationships did not just end when I left. I have contacted some of my former lecturers as recently as a few months ago for advice and help, and they were still so happy to hear from me and take the time to help. I think that says a lot about the people at NSCG and the genuine relationships they build with students.

My time at NSCG also prepared me well for my next steps by giving me the confidence to become more independent, communicate with different people and take opportunities when they came up. Those skills have carried through into university, work experience and the professional opportunities I am now pursuing. Looking back, NSCG gave me a strong academic foundation, great friendships and a support network that has genuinely stayed with me beyond college.

What piece of advice would you give to new NSCG students?

My biggest piece of advice would be not to limit yourself. Take every opportunity you can, even if it is something you are unsure about or do not think you are good enough for. You never know where one opportunity might lead, and sometimes it only takes one opportunity to completely change the direction of your life.

Get involved, speak to people, ask questions and put yourself forward. Even if something does not work out, you will have gained something from trying. Looking back, some of the opportunities that have had the biggest impact on me came from simply being willing to give something a go. You do not have to have everything figured out at 16 or 18, so make the most of the opportunities in front of you and do not be afraid to aim higher than you think you can.
