Stafford College hosts first ever Health and Care Careers Roadshow for local students

The inaugural Health and Care Careers Roadshow, delivered by the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care System, was recently hosted at NSCG Stafford College

Year 10 and 11 pupils from Sir Graham Balfour School, Sir Thomas Boughey Academy, Chesterton Community Sports College, Bailey Street Alternative Provision and The Cheadle Academy all attended the event, which aimed to inspire and inform the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Learners had the opportunity to take part in interactive and engaging workshops including CPR administration, abdominal thrusts, and the ‘ABC’s’ of emergency healthcare (airway, breathing and circulation), allowing students to gain hands-on experience in lifesaving techniques whilst exploring their future career paths.

The event also saw T Level students from Stafford College provide support by giving demonstrations and discussing various course options available to those interested in pursuing a career in health and care.

Martyn Williams, Senior Schools Liaison Officer at NSCG said: "We are thrilled to have hosted the first Health Care and Careers Roadshow at NSCG and to have been able to provide students with a unique glimpse into the healthcare sector and the pathways on offer here at Stafford College.

"It’s been great to see the enthusiasm and engagement from our visitors, who have truly made this day memorable."

“We are extremely grateful to the team at Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Integrated Care System for their hard work in delivering the event.”

Gemma Treanor, Head of the ICS Health and Care People Team, emphasised the importance of the Health and Social Care sector in Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent, noting, "As one of the area’s largest employers, this sector offers endless opportunities, with over 350 careers to explore. Through the Journey to Work pathway, we aim to show that there is a place for everyone within health and care, providing clear routes for both jobs and career progression."

"Events like these empower young people to make informed choices and develop a solid understanding of the skills and values needed to support their journey into the working world."

“A special thank you goes to NSCG for hosting the event and welcoming health and social care organisations from across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.”
