Star Search is back for 2024
Newcastle College, part of Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) will be hosting their annual Signal Star Search competition, in partnership with Signal 1. The competition, which launches on Monday 11 March, has returned after a successful run last year and calls for creative, committed and ambitious individuals with a real passion for performing arts, dance, drama, music or comedy to take part.
The talent competition, designed to uncover the finest young performing talent in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire, invites aspiring students aged 11-16 years old from across the county to enter the competition to claim the title of Signal Star Search Winner 2024 and a cash prize of £500.
The aspiring students can enter by submitting a voice note or a video clip of their chosen talent, of which a number will be shortlisted and invited to perform in the Grand Finale.
The finale event, which is due to be hosted by Signal 1’s Elliot and Matilda from the Signal 1 Breakfast Show, will take place on Friday 26 April at the College’s impressive Performing Arts Centre, with the judging panel to be confirmed. Facilities at the £5.5 million centre include a 200 seat theatre, air conditioned dance studios, an outdoor amphitheatre, live recording studio and a state-of-the-art rehearsal suite.
Newcastle College offers courses from entry to university-level including A Levels in Drama and Theatre Studies and BTEC Extended Diplomas in Acting, Dance, Music Performance, Music Production, Musical Theatre and Technical Theatre.
