Course overview

The AAT Diploma in Accounting offers a comprehensive pathway into the world of finance and accounting. Delve into the fundamental principles and practices of accounting, including financial record-keeping, budgeting, and taxation. Develop practical skills in book-keeping and financial management, gaining proficiency in industry-standard software.

Prepare for a rewarding career in accounting with a recognised qualification that opens doors to a range of opportunities.

This course will introduce you to further accounting and financial skills. You will learn about financial administration and have the opportunity to gain a qualification which will allow you to move into a career in accountancy and finance.

The AAT qualification will help you develop the accounting skills needed in the workplace, as well as IT skills and an understanding of professional ethics.

AAT is the Uk's leading qualification and membership body for accounting staff. As a professional body, AAT offers membership to both student and qualified Accounting Technician members.

AAT qualifications are widely recognised by employers in the accounting sector. Learn about accounts preparation, producing final accounts for sole traders and partnerships. You will also learn about costs and revenues, professional ethics, filling in VAT returns and spreadsheet software.

You will need to have completed the AAT Certificate in Accountancy Level 2 to sign up to this course. Aplicants considering starting at level 3 without the AAT level 2 qualification must discuss this with the course manager before enrolling.

The course is assessed through a variety of exams.

If you wish to find out more you can contact the Curriculum Leader in Accounting, Grace Fletcher, by emailing: grace.fletcher1@nscg.ac.uk

You can progress on to the AAT Diploma in Accounting Level 4 course at the college. Once all three levels of the AAT qualification have been achieved you will be a qualified accounting technician and can apply for full professional membership of AAT as long as you can satisfy their work experience requirements. You may then consider continuing your studies to become a qualified accountant. Each of the professional institutes (ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW and CIPFA) accepts AAT qualified accounting technicians onto their programmes of study, and all offer exemptions.

Courses with a duration over 12 weeks and costing in excess of £150 (including exam fees) can be paid for in instalments over the duration of the course or one year (whichever is shorter). While the College can not guarantee this arrangement in every case, we will do our best to accommodate requests to pay by instalments. In order to pay by instalments you must come into the college, we cannot take payment online.
