This comprehensive course offers an excellent introduction to the field of Carpentry and Joinery while equipping you with essential general construction skills. Throughout this program, you will develop your practical, knowledge and skillset in Carpentry and Joinery.

Key Course Components: Practical Skills Development: A significant portion of your course time will be dedicated to honing your practical skills through a variety of hands-on projects conducted in our well-equipped workshops

Classroom and Computer-Based Learning: Alongside practical training, you'll engage in classroom-based sessions and utilise computer-based resources to deepen your understanding of the tools, materials, and technologies essential to the Construction trade.

Work Experience Opportunities: You are required to complete 24 hours of valuable work experience as an integral part of the course to further enhancing your readiness for the industry.

Industry Exposure: To provide you with real-world insights, the course includes visits to construction companies, allowing you to gain first-hand knowledge of construction practices in diverse settings.

You will need a grade 2 in English and maths at GCSE level. However, if you have a keen interest in the subject and commitment to succeed, your entry requirements will be discussed at interview.

You will be assessed by the use of practical assessments and assignments that will form part of a portfolio of your work. You will also complete practical and theory tests at the end of your training course.

After completing Level 1, students typically progress onto Level 2 qualifications to further develop their skills and knowledge, preparing them for employment, apprenticeships, or continued education in their chosen field.

This course is free for anyone aged 16 – 18.

College Maintenance Allowance (CMA): Anyone with a gross household income under £35,000 can receive financial support to cover college related costs such as transport, meals, course equipment and uniform. Bursary support is based on individual circumstances and will be allocated to best suit your individual needs.
