The digital sector is an industry of exciting, dynamic and fast paced change. This T-Level is the Digital Support & Security route and the pathway aims to support your understanding and practical competency on a wide-variety of in demand digital skills. You will gain a core knowledge of subjects such as understanding the emerging technical trends, such as Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security. In addition you will develop a range of technical and practical skills in areas such as computer systems, networks, security and supporting digital systems. This route includes several potential second year routes, with cyber security being the planned option for the Occupational Specialism at this stage. 

Applying and accepting the offer on this course will require a commitment to undertake an industry placement. NSCG work closely with a range of companies within the digital industry who are committed to providing an industry placement. Students will be offered a placement following a successful interview with an employer.

Content Summary

The core content in this specification includes the following content areas. These are assessed in exams alongside projects in both Year 1 and Year 2. All aspects are assessed by the exam board.

You'll need a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 5 or above, including maths and English Language, in subjects that are relevant to the course you’d like to study. You'll also ideally need GCSE grade 5 or above in Computer Science and/or IT.

You will be assessed by 2 externally set written exams, an employer set task in year 1. In year 2 you will have an externally assessed project that covers the occupational specialism (work that you have undertaken in the digital industry). This will be achieved by completing a range of different assignments, including coursework.

Progression from this course could include university based or HND programmes in suitable computing subjects such as cybersecurity, networks or computer Science. This would include the HND programme through NSCG itself. Potential employment roles may eventually include digital support technician, IT Solutions technicians or roles in the Cyber Security sector. Entering employment is also a suitable progression route, including apprenticeships. 

This course is free for anyone aged 16 – 18.

College Maintenance Allowance (CMA): Anyone with a gross household income under £35,000 can receive financial support to cover college related costs such as transport, meals, course equipment and uniform. Bursary support is based on individual circumstances and will be allocated to best suit your individual needs.
