Local MP joins NSCG Careers Week celebrations
To celebrate National Careers Week 2025, Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) has been touring the county in a striking 42-foot American school bus, bringing careers advice and inspiration directly to young people.
Visiting a total of 20 local schools, the NSCG Schools Liaison and T Level teams have been engaging students with interactive activities, valuable insights and expert careers guidance with the aim to help them explore future pathways in a fun and accessible way.

Running from 3rd - 8th March, National Careers Week plays a crucial role in supporting students at a key stage in their academic journey, encouraging excitement and awareness about their future careers.
Marking the final day of the tour, Leigh Ingham, MP for Stafford, Eccleshall, and the villages, joined NSCG at Sir Graham Balfour High School to celebrate the initiative. During the visit, Leigh Ingham stepped aboard the NSCG careers bus to meet students, hear about their aspirations and take part in activities, including a team drawing challenge designed to test essential communication skills.

National Careers Week also coincides with Colleges Week, an initiative run by the Association of Colleges, which celebrates the impact colleges have both in their local communities and across the country.
Shelley Brown, NSCG’s Deputy Principal - Provision for Young People, said: “We are thrilled that Leigh could join us for National Careers Week celebrations and witness the fantastic work our team is doing.
“It’s wonderful to have our local MP engage with the community at a local school, as collaboration like this is essential in shaping a skilled workforce for the future.”
Leigh Ingham, MP for Stafford, Eccleshall, and the villages, said: “I’m delighted to have been involved in NSCG’s Careers Bus tour and to see first-hand the incredible work being done to support young people as they explore their future pathways.
“Ensuring young people have access to high-quality careers guidance is vital for developing the skills agenda in our local area, helping to equip the next generation with the knowledge and confidence they need to succeed. Initiatives like this not only inspire students but also play a key role in building a strong and skilled workforce for the future.”
