NSCG Academy of Sport prepare for AoC National Championships
01 April 2025
NSCG’s (Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group) Academy of Sport is once again set to compete on the national stage at the Association of Colleges (AoC) National Championships.

A team of 43 talented students will represent the College across five sports, football, volleyball, badminton, cross country and rugby at the 2025 event - which takes place on 4th-6th April and also marks the 45th anniversary of the championships.
Hosted by the University of Nottingham and organised by AoC, the National Championships celebrate excellence in college sport, providing students with a platform to showcase their skills, enjoy competitive sport and gain well-deserved recognition.
As the largest annual FE (further education) student sporting event in Europe, the championships attract top student athletes from across the UK. Last year more than 1,500 students took part, having earned their place through regional qualifying tournaments held throughout the academic year.
The NSCG ladies volleyball team will be looking to retain their national title for the fifth year running after a series of successful championships in recent years.
Dave Sutton, NSCG Academy of Sport Manager, said: “We’re incredibly proud of our students for securing their places at the AoC National Championships. Their hard work, dedication and passion for sport have earned them the opportunity to compete at the highest level of college sport. The championships are a fantastic experience, allowing our students to test themselves against the best in the country and we can’t wait to see them in action.”
