NSCG Students Help Stitch Together Staffordshire Day Celebrations
13 May 2026
Students have played a key role in bringing a unique county-wide creative project to life as part of the 10th anniversary celebrations for Staffordshire Day.
The ‘Stitched for Staffordshire’ project brought together colleges and schools from across the county to create a large collaborative Staffordshire Quilt, celebrating what Staffordshire means to young people today through individually designed fabric squares.
Learners from our Newcastle, Stafford and Leek campuses worked alongside students from Burton and South Derbyshire College, South Staffordshire College and Painsley Catholic College to contribute creative pieces inspired by the places, people, memories and communities that make Staffordshire special.
As part of the collaborative effort, talented students at NSCG Stafford College were also responsible for stitching the final quilt together, helping transform the individual designs into one finished piece celebrating creativity, identity and county pride.
The completed quilt is currently on display in the Sixth Form Centre reception at our Stafford campus, where visitors can view the artwork over the coming weeks before it begins a tour of locations across Staffordshire this summer. Following the tour, the quilt will return permanently to the Stafford campus as a lasting reminder of the project and the collaborative spirit behind it.
The project formed part of the wider Staffordshire Day celebrations, marking a decade of recognising and celebrating the county’s communities, heritage and local pride.
