A lecturer from NSCG has been recognised with the prestigious David Wise Memorial Prize, an award presented annually by the University of Wolverhampton to a trainee teacher who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to their ongoing personal and professional development through critical reflective practice.
This year's recipient is Dan Rizk, a Lecturer in Graphics and Art & Design, who has been recognised for his exceptional progress, professionalism and dedication to continually improving his teaching practice. This prestigious accolade is awarded from across the University's large teacher training cohort, making the achievement particularly significant.
Although still at an early stage in his teaching career, Dan has consistently demonstrated maturity, resilience and an impressive capacity for self-reflection. He thoughtfully evaluates every lesson, actively seeks feedback from colleagues and mentors, and uses these insights to enhance both his teaching delivery and classroom presence.
Throughout his PGCE training, Dan has also shown remarkable determination in overcoming personal challenges, approaching every opportunity with positivity, enthusiasm and a genuine desire to learn.
His passion for Graphics and Art & Design, combined with his commitment to supporting learners, has created an engaging and inclusive classroom environment where students feel encouraged, motivated and valued.
Amanda Garside, Curriculum Leader for Higher Education Early Years & Education said: “We are so proud that Dan has been awarded The David Wise Memorial Prize. He is everything you could ask for in a student lecturer and a real asset to our teaching team. He is passionate, dedicated and always looks for new ways to support his learners.”
Congratulations to Dan on this well-deserved recognition and on an exciting future in education.
