NSCG hosts Higher Education and Apprenticeship Progression Information Event
Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) invited final year Level 3 learners and their parents along to a Higher Education and Apprenticeship Progression Information Event to find out more about their options once they complete their studies in Summer 2025.
Parents, guardians and students were guided through their options and offered information and advice around the key aspects of applying to university.
Helping them to get to grips with the important financial aspects of higher education, which are often driving factors in deciding on a university, Sally Ward from Keele University gave a presentation on tuition fees and finance. Claire Owen, from Lancaster University gave an informative overview of UCAS and offered hints and tips on preparing personal statements to be successful in securing a university place.
Learners had the opportunity to explore a wide range of progression opportunities and to chat to representatives from higher education providers including; Keele University, Lancaster University and Staffordshire University alongside the university level courses and work-based learning opportunities available at NSCG.
Georgina Barnard, Director of the Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Institute of Technology (SoTSIoT) introduced the brand new SoTSIoT Hub, which will offer industry-standard facilities and equipment for the benefit of it's Higher Education students. The SoTSIoT will specialise in higher level technical programmes bringing together Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) in collaboration with Keele University, Burton and South Derbyshire College and Axia Solutions, with curriculum influenced by key employer partners including; Dell, Hitachi, MOOG, Siemens and St Modwen Logistics. Learners including Apprentices will have the opportunity to access highly technical education programmes in engineering and manufacturing, modern methods of construction, health sciences and digital technology at the Stafford-based site.
