Dive into financial accounting principles, management accounting techniques and master the intricacies of computerised accounting systems. The aim of the course is to offer you the opportunity to gain the skills demanded by employers in accounting and finance, whilst achieving an internationally recognised qualification that could ultimately lead to the full AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) Accounting Qualification and full AAT membership.

You will attend the College on a full-time basis over one year. There will also be study time to enable you to consolidate the work carried out in lectures.

All units are mandatory and the subjects include:

  • Financial Accounting
  • Management Accounting
  • Computerised Accounting
  • Payroll
  • Business Law
  • Business Skills

You will need 4 GCSEs at grade 3 or above and a grade 5 or above in maths.
If you do not have these qualifications and are keen to join the course, we will be happy to consider and advise you individually.

You are assessed against the standards of competence laid down by the AAT, you will need to achieve a minimum of 70 per cent in all of the computer-based assessments.

You learn through experiencing a varied programme which includes activities, solving simulated problems, lectures, group work, discussions and attempting past examinations. You will also be required to study away from lectures to ensure exam success. To help you there is a course team of friendly, approachable tutors committed to your success who will encourage you to use the College's extensive resources including computer facilities, library, private study area and careers and counselling service.

Successful completion of the Level 2 Diploma results in the award of an externally recognised professional qualification and entitles you to progress to further accounting qualifications.After successful completion of the Level 2 Diploma many students progress to our AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting, often as part of an apprenticeship programme. Alternative Level 3 qualifications in business and associated areas are also possible.

College Maintenance Allowance (CMA): Anyone with a household income under £26,000 can receive up to £20 per week financial support to help pay for travel and meals and meet the costs of essential trips, books, stationery and equipment.
