Course overview

Begin your career into professional accounting by studying this Level 2 course. Explore the foundations of finance administration and the core accounting skills needed to climb the career ladder, including double-entry bookkeeping, basic costing, and sales and purchase ledgers. Learn how to compare accounts, journals and to operate bookkeeping and banking systems.

The AAT Level 2 qualification is one of the most common starting points traditionally for those who are working, or aim to work, in an accounting role in practice or industry.

Students will also learn about accountancy related business and personal skills and be introduced to the four key themes embedded in the qualification: ethics, technology, communications and sustainability.

You can choose whether to study in the evening or during the day.

You'll be taught by our qualified and skilled staff who will share their industrial knowledge and experience to you.

You will need a good level of English and Maths to study this course. If you do not have a grade 4 of above, equivalent qualifications may be considered and there are exemptions for further applicants with relevant workplace experience.

The course is assessed by end of module computer-based exams. You will require a minimum of 70% to pass each module.

For further information, please email Jo Furnival at jo.furnival@nscg.ac.uk

You can progress on to the AAT Diploma in Accounting Level 3 course at the college, if you secure employment in the field of Accounting or Finance.

Courses with a duration over 12 weeks and costing in excess of £150 (including exam fees) can be paid for in instalments over the duration of the course or one year (whichever is shorter). While the College can not guarantee this arrangement in every case, we will do our best to accommodate requests to pay by instalments. In order to pay by instalments you must come into the college, we cannot take payment online.

Depending on your personal circumstances, you could be eligible for financial support. For more information visit nscg.ac.uk/financialsupport
