HNC Digital Content Creation learners shine during creative product challenge

Learners studying the HNC Digital Content Creation course at NSCG Stafford College students have had the exciting opportunity to get involved in a 2-week creative product photography and video challenge working closely with local local artisan chocolate maker Ben Popple and his business Mr Popples’ Chocolate.

Showcasing their skills and knowledge, the group were tasked with photographing a range of products from the Mr Popple range, finding ways to communicate with their target audience, emphasising the ethical and sustainable products, highlighting their premium quality, natural, organic and plant based ingredients and the overall environmental impact of the product offering.

Commenting on the project, Ben Popple said:"The collaboration with the HNC Digital Content Creation students was truly exceptional. Their professional approach to photographing and filming my artisanal chocolate bars demonstrated both technical expertise and creative flair. What struck me most was how perfectly they captured our brand's essence through both still and moving imagery. The sophistication of their photography and video work exceeded all expectations, showing a genuine understanding of the product and target audience. This real-world commercial project has provided the students with exceptional portfolio pieces that demonstrate their ability to meet professional standards, and I’m sure that having concrete evidence of client work made with such high calibre will significantly enhance their employability.

Their work wasn't just technically accomplished—the creative vision behind both the photography and video content was remarkable, producing materials of such high quality that they're ready for immediate commercial use. It's heartening to see such promising talent emerging in our local creative community, delivering work that rivals any commercial studio."

Curriculum Leader, Robb Agostinelli added: "On the HNC/D Digital Content Creation course we work hard to ensure that as much of the course content as possible is based around real client briefs.  This ensures learners leave us having built up a rich and varied portfolio through their exposure to regular new projects from a diverse client base which ranges from sole traders through to large corporate brands.  On this particular project, learners were challenged to photograph three specific products from the Mr Popples' range, and produce a mixture of product images using props, lifestyle images and short form videos which can be used across web, social media and print platforms.  Ben from Mr Popples' Chocolate has been an absolute pleasure to work with and we're delighted that he is pleased with the project outcomes."

Endorsing the work, Ben Popple added: "The collaboration with the HNC Digital Content Creation students was truly exceptional.
