NSCG Student Fundraises for Hospital That Saved His Life
27 May 2026
Saul Arrowsmith, Newcastle and Stafford Colleges Group (NSCG) Level 3 Uniformed Protective Services student has been raising money for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital after they saved his life at 15-months-old.
Having already run 100k throughout March, and completed a 10k run in Market Drayton in May to fundraise for the hospital, Saul DJ’d at a charity rave on Sunday 24 May after weeks of DJ lessons from DJ Daf Milne.
This is the 12th year of the annual 100% charity event created and run by beloved local DJ, dedicated fundraiser and good friend of Saul’s dad Mark ‘Daba’ Davies. Running for eleven hours straight at The Jug in Newcastle, this year featured special guest and 90s icon Al Mackenzie from D:REAM.
Saul told us, “The event was unreal, turnout was sold out from my set onwards and atmosphere was second to none. The hospital saved my life when I was 15-months-old, and I was under the care of them until I was eleven, me and my family will forever be indebted to them.”
The event raised an incredible £500 all of which will be going to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital based in Liverpool, helping to fund vital and lifesaving care for children across the country.
Now nearing the end of his studies at NSCG Newcastle College, Saul plans to head to the University of Derby to study Football Journalism, and with no plans to slow down his fundraising efforts, we can’t wait to see what he achieves next!
