If you’ve ever dreamed of working in hair and make-up for film, TV and theatre, this is the course for you. This vibrant and exciting programme will teach you the specialist techniques you need to progress towards an exciting career in a range of creative and dynamic industries.

During the course you will cover a wide range of units including health and safety, client communication, apply air-brush make-up to face, camouflage make-up, media make-up, fashion and photographic make-up, style and fit postiche, apply prosthetic pieces and bald caps, bridal hair styling and fantasy hair design for performers.

You will gain skills in every aspect of advanced make-up and develop creative techniques for stage and screen.

On completing the course, you will have a wealth of options for working within the industry or taking on further study towards your ideal career.

Thanks to our excellent links with the industry, you will also have the chance to gain real-life experience on work placements with theatre companies and a range of other practical opportunities. Industry placement is a significant part of the course as it helps you gain the hands-on experience and confidence you need to make your way in the workplace.

You will need a Level 2 Diploma in Hair and Media Make-up or alternative Make-up qualification and maths and English at appropriate levels.

You are continually assessed throughout the course by building a portfolio of work. Practical assessments will be observed by your assessor on a selection of clients. External assessments will be completed at the end of certain units by online test.

Completion of this course leads to career prospects in the make-up and beauty industry and also enables you to progress to other courses at University.

College Maintenance Allowance (CMA): Anyone with a household income under £26,000 can receive up to £20 per week financial support to help pay for travel and meals and meet the costs of essential trips, books, stationery and equipment.
