Course overview

Are you interested in how people learn and considering a future in education?

This two-year Level 3 V Level in Education will help you explore the education sector and develop your understanding of how to support learning across different ages and settings.

You will apply your knowledge to realistic situations, develop your communication and problem-solving skills, and grow in confidence as you prepare for further study or training.

Each V Level is equivalent in size to one A Level and can be studied alongside other V Levels or A Levels as part of a suitable study programme.

You will explore how people learn and how education professionals plan, support and review learning.  During the course, you will develop your ability to:

  • Understand different approaches to teaching and learning.
  • Plan learning activities for different ages, needs and stages.
  • Communicate effectively with learners and others.
  • Adapt activities to support inclusion and participation.
  • Consider safety when planning learning activities.
  • Use information about learners’ progress to identify appropriate next steps.
  • Evaluate learning activities and suggest improvements.

You will also develop transferable skills, including teamwork, organisation and independent study.

A minimum of four or more high grades at GCSE* in subjects that are relevant to the course you’d like to study, including maths and/or English Language at grade 4 or above.

*If choosing to study a V Level alongside A Level course combinations you need a minimum of five GCSEs at grade 5 or above, in subjects relevant to your A Level or A+ Programme subject choices.

At your course discussion appointment, we will discuss your GCSE results, interests and future plans to help you choose a suitable combination of subjects.

You will be assessed through a combination of:

  • Examinations - 40% assessing your knowledge, understanding and ability to apply what you have learned.
  • Non-exam assessments - 60% applying your knowledge and skills through tasks.
  • Your qualification will be graded A* - E or P
