Which courses have you studied so far at NSCG?

At the moment, I am studying the Introduction to ESOL Entry Level 3 at Keele in Town. I have recently studied other short ESOL courses including the Getting to Grips with English Language and Living in the Local community course to help me to study further.

Tell us about your education before coming to the UK.

I grew up and studied in India. I did my nursing diploma and then came to the UK as a student.

Why did you decide to study an ESOL course at Keele in Town?

I have heard a lot of good things about NSCG Newcastle College so I went onto the website to find out more. Keele in Town is near my house so it is easy to get to and I enjoyed reading about the student support online.

How is the course helping you in your life?

I have had a lot of help from the teachers to gain more confidence to speak English. Learning at the lovely space at Keele in Town is a good opportunity for me to carry on improving my English especially talking to everybody on the course. They are all very friendly and it helps to pick up phrases and new words.

What has been the biggest challenge with the language barrier for you?

The grammar has been a big challenge for me and is where my study gaps are. It's been good to revise what I had forgotten.

What are you enjoying most about the course?

I am enjoying taking the opportunity to study again and I have had many different experiences here. I am making new friends who come from different countries. We also share food each week from our home countries, so we get to try different food and hear all about cultures and languages.

What help do you get from your tutors?

My tutor is very polite and kind and they give me lots of information about improving my English, grammar and spelling. I also enjoy finding out more about UK living style, cultures and traditions and the way of life around food.

Did you enjoy your first day?

I was a little nervous on my first day but later I started to enjoy it. It is a very comfortable environment and it made me feel good.

When you have completed this ESOL course, what are you hoping to do next?

I would like to study the next level as it is very important for me to get a job.

Would you recommend the course to friends and family?

Yes certainly. This is a good opportunity for adults to improve their English which is very important for us to live in this country. It will help you in every way.
